Geoff Bell is one of the big names in country and blues music. Based in Goulburn where we met up for this interview, he is the owner and manager of Laing Entertainment and promotor of a number of festivals (including the Australian Blues Music Festival, Americana In The Park (Tamworth Country Music festival), Brisbane’s Welcome to Morrisonville Americana event) and regular international and national tours. Laing Entertainment is one of Australia’s highly respected entertainment companies having represented artists as diverse as Slim Dusty, Kasey Chambers, Troy Cassar-Daly and James Blundell with the current roster featuring ARIA and multiple Golden guitar winners Sara Storer and Anne Kirkpatric, folk-music legend Eric Bogle, multiple Golden Guitar winners Catherine Britt and Peter Denahy and Golden Guitar-nominated Sunny Cowgirls, Roo Arcus, Grant Luhrs and The Weeping Willows. The company has toured – in association with Brisbane-based Square One Entertainment – US artists Iris DeMent, Charlie Parr, Hayes Carll, Alvin Youngblood Hart, Kevin Welch, The Peterson Brothers with Sheila E., Paul Thorn and Tuck & Patti.
