Martine consistently demonstrates a high level of professionalism and is a pleasure to work with. Martine has a wealth of knowledge and the Music Industry Inside Out website is a fantastic resource for our City’s local musicians who are seeking to learn about the music industry and artist development. The content is fresh, exciting, relevant and delivered in a manner that speaks to a range of musicians: beginner to professional. Martine’s excellent reputation in the music industry has helped Ipswich City Council to attract a number of big industry names to lead our skills development workshops for local artists. I happily recommend the services of Martine and her business Music Industry Inside Out.
If you are working with people that are interested in music and want to secure local gigs, or develop their understanding of the Australian music scene, or to make it big, you need to make contact with MIIO and Martine.
It has been a really great experience working with MIIO and Martine. Martine is really flexible in working with you to get best contend for the group you are working with. The workshops provide such an insight into the industry. I think it’s the diversity of the content and of the facilitators really makes the workshops what they are, it’s the practical skills that are often forgotten such as seeing yourself or band as a business, making sure that you have a consistent message in all your online and marketing tools etc. These workshops allow for real conversations with real people making it in the music industry. All of the presenters were really professional and encouraging of the young people in attendance no matter what stage of their career they are in, and it’s all supported with a subscription to the MIIO site that allows for the super keen attendees to do some of their own research.
When asked about my favourite program parts: I actually have two favourite parts! The first is when the young people in attendance work out how awesome the facilitators are and start to see what assistance they could be, and the second is at the end when we see the transformation of the young people, though the coordination of their own gigs, professional photo shoot and the development of their bios! – It’s great to watch the shift in the people that put the effort into developing themselves and their bands.
If you are working with people that are interested in music and want to secure local gigs, or develop their understanding of the Australian music scene, or to make it big, you need to make contact with MIIO and Martine. Martine’s experience and connections across the industry will ensure a workshop series that will benefit the people you are working with.
Martine Cotton has been a pleasure to deal with and we’re looking forward to introducing Music Tasmania’s members to the valuable industry knowledge available at Music Industry Inside Out.
Music Industry Inside Out are one of the most up-to-date, informative, music industry experts and educators around and that anyone who attends one of their workshops or undertakes one of their courses will benefit greatly. They know what they're talking about and their mentors are highly experienced and well known within the industry.
Martine facilitated a series of three workshops held at Expressive Ground on the Gold Coast in 2016. She brought a wealth of information and expertise to our workshop attendees! The only problem was deciding what to focus our workshops on, based on Music Industry Inside Out's numerous courses and information on offer and limiting the time of each workshop to just 2 hours! Releasing Your Music, Booking Gigs and Touring & Event Management were the three workshops we picked and Eddie Jacobson was the mentor for the Releasing Your Music workshop. He was also a delight and very knowledgeable and approachable to attendees. We received only positive feedback from all who attended each workshop.
The best part for me being time poor was having the peace of mind that Martine was going to come in, do an excellent job and that based on her background and her business Music Industry Inside Out, had the skills to do so. I liked the fact that I didn't have to worry about that side of things. Even though I was one of the committee members of Expressive Ground and one of the organisers, I enjoyed sitting in on all the workshops and learnt a whole lot myself!! They were not only informative but interesting and fun. Attendees got to hear each others stories of what was working for them and what wasn't which was also beneficial.
I'd say that Music Industry Inside Out are one of the most up-to-date, informative, music industry experts and educators around and that anyone who attends one of their workshops or undertakes one of their courses will benefit greatly. They know what they're talking about and their mentors are highly experienced and well known within the industry. Whether its someone who works in the music industry or a successful musician or band, you're winning! They are also approachable, friendly and happy to help answer any questions. Many times I have emailed Martine to pick her brain since!
