Eves The Behaviour’s Savvy Seven

EVES Hannah Karaydas Savvy Seven MUSICIIO

Eves The Behaviour is the moniker given to the songwriting musings or “experiments” of Brisbane-based Hannah Karydas. Having supported the likes of Holy Holy, Jeremy Neale, Courtney Barnett and Sky Ferreira, Eves was named as one to watch on Triple J’s Next Crop artists list for 2014. With her debut EP on the way, Hannah took some time out to share some industry insight.

1. The best live music venues in my area are…

Black Bear Lodge – near perfect synergy of sound/size/comfort = ultimate vibe!

2. The music scene in Brisbane is…

It’s small enough that everyone is everyone’s pal, and if there’s someone you want to meet, there’ll be like 1 degree of separation. But big enough to be pumping out multiple bluddy brilliant international-class acts.

3. My top tip for artists who self-manage is…

Make sure you have a crystal clear vision. Be a mongrel if you have to!

Also – if you need legal advice and budget is an issue…there’s a company called Arts Law Australia that offers legal services at a steal of a price… www.artslaw.com.au

4. In my opinion, the most important issue facing the music industry is…

I can’t think of a single most important issue… but I think the battle between free streaming/buying music is an interesting topic. Streaming music might be disadvantageous on the money side of things, but it enlarges the door to potential listeners.

5. When on the road, my favourite pit stops are…

At 7/11 I buy muesli bars. I like to eat them before shows.

6. My biggest career mistake has been…

I can’t say I regret any choices I’ve made this far.

7. My best advice for emerging artists is…

To extend upon an answer above… make sure your vision is clear, and make sure you are offering a new feeling to the listeners of the world.
