*CANCELLED* Workshops: Young Women in Jazz [WA]

April 24 @ 8:00 am - 5:00 pm WST

WA Youth Jazz Orchestra Association (WAYJO) have ran workshops in Perth since 2014 and have seen young women build support networks, refine their skills and increase confidence. Developed by Sydney Improvised Music Association (SIMA) and Dr. Sandy Evans OAM in 2002, the Young Women’s Jazz Workshops are specifically designed to inspire young, female instrumentalists to play jazz and pursue a future in music.

With workshops at the West Australian Academy of Performing Arts (WAAPA), guest artists, alumnae tutors, and the opportunity to perform in concert at the Ellington Jazz Club, Young Women in Jazz is a great opportunity to explore this exciting artform.

DEVELOP the skills and confidence of young women in jazz and improvised instrumental music.
BROADEN knowledge of jazz and improvised music.
INCREASE awareness of career options in jazz and related areas.
ENCOURAGE students to understand audition processes and apply for tertiary jazz courses.
