Lighthouse Award

Established in memory of pioneering artist manager Linda GebarThe Lighthouse Award provides a $5,000 grant annually to a woman-identifying or non-binary artist manager. Applications are now open to those in the field who exhibit passion, creativity and integrity, and is open to applicants nationally.

Applications are open now until Tuesday 6 April, 5pm (AEST).

Linda Gebar died tragically in October 2008 soon after the birth of her second child. She was one of the few women in artist management in the 90s, and worked with The Killjoys, Frente and The Blackeyed Susans. She also booked the Punters Club, worked at PBS FM, had a record label and worked at APRA AMCOS.

Linda was a truly passionate believer in local music and the community that surrounded it, and was a mentor and colleague to many. This memorial award exists to continue Linda’s work, and support a forward-thinking manager who is dedicated to Australian music.

Previous recipients of The Lighthouse Award include Jen Cloher, Bonnie Dalton, Bernadette Ryan, Charlotte Abroms, Sabrina RobertsonLorrae McKenna and last year’s recipient Maggie Collins.

“We’re proud to see Linda’s legacy reflected through The Lighthouse Award, and it’s amazing to see how the recipients have contributed to the landscape of Australian music through their hard work and vision,” said Jana Gibson, Head of Member Services, APRA AMCOS.

Upon winning in 2020, Maggie said, “To receive The Lighthouse Award at such a time, is so beyond exciting and humbling for me, as it will give me the resources to audit, expand and solidify my leadership skills, and then give it all back to my beloved music community.”

The Lighthouse Award represents APRA AMCOS’ commitment to addressing the gender imbalance within the music industry and encouraging women and gender diverse individuals to pursue a career in music.
