Applications Close: Flinders Quartet’s 2020 Composer Development Program [National]
March 29 @ 8:00 am - 5:00 pm EST
Over the years, the pile of scores sent from composers grew exponentially and we were very conscious of the fact that we could be missing some real gems by not playing them. We decided to devote specific time to develop our Composer Development Program and put out a national call for scores from composers (regardless of age and gender) to be assessed anonymously. Since our first Composer Development Program in 2016, we have been privileged to discover some phenomenal talent.
Successful participants enjoy time with a composition mentor, workshops with the quartet, a studio recording of their work and a live-streamed concert reaching national and international audiences.
While the program is open to Australian composers of all ages and genders, and is assessed anonymously by members of the quartet and the composition mentor, female-identifying or NB composers are strongly encouraged to apply. Two participants will additionally be invited to undertake a one week residency at artists’ retreat, All That We Are, in Tasmania, with return airfare provided.
We are honoured to have Katy Abbott as our 2020 composition mentor, and we are delighted to announce that our inaugural emerging composer-in-residence will be Ella Macens (2017 FQ Composer Development Program participant).
Deadline for submissions: 29 May 2020, 5pm AEST. Please refer to the full T&Cs for submissions and the program here.
