Asta’s Savvy Seven

The winner of Triple J’s Unearthed High in 2012, Asta has been a busy bee. Having just dropped her fun new 80s-flavoured single ‘Dynamite’, the talented young chanteuse is about to make her way up the East Coast of Australia for her release tour.

We managed to catch up with Tasmanian-grown Asta for some Savvy Seven tips before she departed.

1. The best live music venues in my area are…

The Enmore in Newtown. Great atmosphere and a good sound system.

2. The music scene in Tassie is…

Great! Lots of bands play at the Republic Bar, so I suggest heading there. Limited venues in Tassie but you’ll love the locals!

3. My top tip for artists who self-manage is…

Find a manager that isn’t your friend! Get someone in the family to help you out while you focus on the music.

4. In my opinion, the most important issue facing the music industry is…

Women not coming together and helping each other out! #girlpower

5. When on the road, my favourite pit stops are…

Finding a place that does a vegetarian meal! That’s a huge bonus.

6. My biggest career mistake has been…

Beating myself up too much. It’s a waste of energy, and no one can be perfect all the time (unless you’re Beyoncé).

7. My best advice for emerging artists is…

Collaborating with others, and being open to change and new things.

You can check out Asta on her Facebook, Website, catch her in concert on her tour, or check out her latest good-feels release ‘Dynamite’.
