MusicNSW is delighted to present SOUND ADVICE: a series of panels, talks and masterclasses featuring the best in the business. SOUND ADVICE aims to give artists, managers, and emerging industry professionals a leg up into the industry through providing access to stellar guest speakers. Covering a range of topics, SOUND ADVICE will demystify the music industry, identify career pathways for artists, offer free advice from industry professionals, as well as survival tips for coping as a contemporary musician. You can come along to one of our free industry panels, listen to your idols tell-all at an artist talk, or enrol to become a master in one of our masterclasses. The program will roll out over the year so stay tuned to our socials and enews for the latest announcements.

Emily Collins (Managing Director, MusicNSW) – Emily Collins comes to MusicNSW as former Development Manager at FBi Radio in Sydney. Emily has worked in the music industry in a variety of capacities since first moving to Sydney from Darwin in 2002, including working on music festivals, doing marketing and publicity for bands, and being in various bands herself. She put on a 10-band music festival in her backyard once, and it was great.
APRA AMCOS – APRA AMCOS has 90,000+ members who are songwriters, composers and music publishers. They license organisations to play, perform, copy, record or make available their members’ music, and they distribute the royalties to their members.
Create NSW is the NSW Government’s new arts and cultural driver, which brings together arts, screen and culture functions in a new integrated entity. Create NSW was established on 1 April 2017, and has responsibility for many of the functions previously undertaken by Arts NSW and Screen NSW.
The Australia Council for the Arts is the Australian Government’s arts funding and advisory body.

Millie Millgate (Executive Producer, SOUNDS AUSTRALIA) – With a background in Events, Artist Management and Venue Booking, Millie has also worked in Music Supervision, and was the Creative Director of Music NSW, acting as Festival Director of Sound Summit/ TINA (This is Not Art) as part of role. She has worked closely with Festivals such as The Big Day Out and Homebake, and sat on the board of FBi Radio and MusicNSW.
Glenn Dickie (Export Music Producer, SOUNDS AUSTRALIA) – Glenn spent 12 years at EMI Music Australia working across A&R, Promotions and Marketing. During his time there, he worked with artists from Robbie Williams to Lily Allen and JET to The Rolling Stones. He signed Miami Horror, Ricki-Lee, Oh Mercy and was part of a team that signed The Cat Empire, Airbourne and hip acts 360 and PEZ. In 2003 he co-founded THE AUSSIE BBQ, the biggest showcase of Australian music outside of Australia. In the late 90′s he was a broadcaster on Melbourne community radio station 3RRR where he stayed for 12 years and played drums in various tour bands.
