The NT Song of the Year Awards is an annual initiative presented by MusicNT, to recognise and showcase the diverse songwriting talent in the Northern Territory. Introduced in 2012, the ‘NT Song Awards’ were created as a means to promote and celebrate the original music of published and unpublished artists from across the Territory. Entry categories include Rock, Pop, Folk, Urban/ HipHop, Blues & Roots, Country, Heavy, Dance & Electronic and Youth (aged 25 and under). Additional awards include People’s Choice and the overall NT Song of the Year Award.
The NT Song of the Year Awards is the premier celebration of songwriters in the Territory, held annually under the stars at the Museum and Art Gallery of the NT in Darwin.
If you have any issues submitting your songs and entering please email firstname.lastname@example.org or email@example.com or call (08) 89811995
Entries close 5pm Fri 2 June 2017.
But here are some things you need to know before entering:
Think about the genre of music your songs fit into. You can enter your song across 10 genres: Rock, Pop, Folk, Urban/ HipHop, Blues & Roots, Country, Heavy, Dance & Electronic, Youth (aged 25 and under) and the inaugural TourismNT Territory Song Award.
You can submit three songs for $11. Any additional songs after that will cost $11 each.
You can submit one song across multiple genres if you feel it fits in those categories.
Songs need to be submitted as MP3s and ideally 6MB and under.
You can submit songs online, if you have trouble submitting songs online you can bring them into the MusicNT Office (but you must fill out an online application beforehand).
You can pay your submission fee using PayPal online or pay by coming into the MusicNT Office.
You need to submit your lyrics… have them written down before you enter the Awards.
Any song by a NT songwriter can be submitted but it cannot have been a past finalist in the NT Song of the Year Awards.
You must be a Northern Territory resident to enter.
