BYRON BAY: Splendour in the Grass 2017

July 21 - July 23

$169

The grass is always greener at North Byron Parklands when Splendour rolls in! You know it!

From Friday 21 to Sunday 23 July, the 17th annual Splendour in the Grass Music and Arts Festival will once again bring the bands to the Bay as over 100 of the most exciting acts touring the planet right now grace The Amphitheatre, Mix Up, GW McLennan and Tiny Dancer stages.

Splendour’s A-Team of 2017 is a heterogeneous collection of artists that spans the musical rainbow, from prolific rock superstars and indie electro pioneers to hip hop innovators and national icons alongside our freshest new crop of Australian stars on the rise. Three days of all ages, magical music moments await! Plus so much more….

When it’s time to #GetDown, and you know that time will come, chase the bass all the way to THE TIPI FOREST. As the sun sets over North Byron Parklands this iconic Splendour in the Grass institution takes on a life of its own, where interpretive dance and playful performances go hand-in-hand with vibrant lightscapes and transient art. On vibe patrol are the regions most respected DJs and producers, spinning a diverse and dance-inducing collection of beats well into the night.

If the idea of neo-electronic-reggae-dub has you pondering the meaning of life itself, you can flex some muscles of the mental kind at the SPLENDOUR FORUM. Conveniently timed to start just after your morning caffeine fix, from 10:00am daily you can join some of the greatest forward thinkers from near and far as they debate, discuss and get downright philosophical on yo’ ass, pondering a whole host of pressing and relevant issues.

Justify the #wanderlust in your insta bio and navigate your gang to THE GLOBAL VILLAGE. Dive into a musical melting pot of incredible artists and inspired genres from all corners of the globe at the World Stage, including Dustin Thomas (USA), Paul George (Tijuana Cartel), The Bombay Royale, Luka Lesson, Wild Marmalade and many more. #namaste the day away and treat yourself to a massage, a tarot card reading or do a yoga class. When you’re all limbered up be sure to check out some conscious theatre, circus performances or say hi to our Tibetan monk mates.

Are bad ass babies and young punks cramping your style?  Bring them to Splendour with you! LITTLE SPLENDOUR is a world of wonder for the next generation of music lovers with loads to keep both little and big kids busy! And when it’s time to put those little terrors to bed they can sleep soundly in The Meadow, our family friendly campground. Parents with babies will love LITTLE SPLENDOUR’s tipi area with its huge sandpit, music garden, story telling, jumping castle and super cool art and craft zone while bigger kids can get into sports and games, face painting, giant board games and more. There’s also loads of stuff for all ages to try including arts, craft, music, dance, active workshops and Indigenous performance. Kids. Are. Sorted.

What’s hot, hard and full of white goo? Hot glue guns of course! Head on over to SPLENDOUR IN THE CRAFT and be prepared to get sticky with your crafty weapon of choice. Glitter? Check. Pom poms? Check check. Overseeing this glorious mess are a host of Australia’s premier craft masters, teaching you all they know about bedazzling your festival get-up, milk bottle lanterns, cool as fuck charm bracelets and sew much more! Craft like no one is watching.

It ain’t just glitter and good vibes taking over North Byron Parklands. Oh no. SPLENDOUR ARTS returns in 2017 with a whole suite of fresh new artworks to be discovered. A crew of top notch international and Australian artists are set to transform the site into a contemporary outdoor art space, with performance, live art, installation, projection and more. Remember our Amish mates? They’ve moved on to even greener pastures and have made way for our newest residents. Be sure to drop by The Barn to find out who!

Hunt down some serious #FOODPORN at one of three food halls around the fest or The Truck Stop featuring the tastiest tucker from all your favourite food trucks. And quench your thirst at a bunch of different bars, from the MOËT CHAMPAGNE BAR, MO’ROCKIN WINE BAR, CARLTON DRY BAR and the ever popular SMIRNOFF COCKTAIL BAR with a different party each night!

The best bit? This year we’ve scrapped the token system and have joined forces with Visa to bring you Visa payWave at all bars! That means less time waiting in lines. Yay for that!

Forget your fedora? Lose your sunnies mid-shimmy? Find all your festival farshun needs and much more amongst Splendour’s myriad MARKETS stalls. The VERY SMALL SUBURB is back too, with the biggest names in food, fashion and beauty setting up shop to keep you looking #nofilter ready.

Roflmao your way to THE COMEDY CLUB (late night at The Forum) and catch Australia’s most raucous, outrageous and flat-out hilarious comedians as they try their hand at making you laugh until you cry each evening. There’s all the best up and coming musos too, taking over THE BUSKERS STAGE for the entire weekend.

When it’s time to rest your weary bones, camping on site is the way to go for the full Splendour emersion experience and we have a variety of options available. The camping area closest to the event site is vehicle free but you can camp with your wheels in other areas. For the time being you only need to purchase your event and camping ticket. You’ll be able to choose where you want to park your rig when we release vehicle passes on Monday 8 May.

Onsite camping is available for up to 5 nights – with early entry into the campgrounds available from Wednesday 19 July – so bunk in for an easy and affordable way to experience Splendour. Travelling from afar and not keen to lug your camping kit? Pack light and book yourself into Tepee Love, Flash Camp, Tent City or Byron Bay Camping Co. Bringing the kids? The Meadow, our family friendly campground is the place for you!

We’ve made some changes and improvements to our onsite traffic management to ensure it’s a smooth experience for everyone so if you’re being dropped off at the festival each day, please be sure to use the drop off points inside the venue only. Tweed Valley Way and the Pacific Highway are ‘no-go’ zones, please be safe and stay off busy roads.

This year Splendour is working with South Pole Group which recently acquired our long term carbon offset partner Climate Friendly. South Pole Group is one of the world’s leading sustainability solutions providers and if you choose the carbon offset option when purchasing your tickets, they will invest your $$ in projects to reduce carbon emissions.
